Aug. 03 Columbus Polaris Amphitheatre
while I know there are people in this review that make no sense to the people here,
I am still posting this as I am to tired from yesteday to type a new one,,whew!
First off let me say Happy Birthday Scott, we thought of you
yesterday quite often(thought of Coco also, we had fun at
Columbus!).Took quite the gang, had 8 of us. Ryan and Kristen came
Saturday and met the family, had pizza and shot the ****.
Headed out around 7 Sunday.Lots of giant donuts and one gas stop later Ozzfest.
I didnt spend much time at 2nd stage and neither did Ryan or Kristen
or Deb (cousin).
We had VIp passes so we took advantage of them. I
managed to Deb and Kristen about half snocked by 3 in the afternoon,
woohoo!! Went to 2nd stage to see Cradle with Andy, he is a big fan
and no one else wanted to go,he enjoyed them immmensley, they got me
about as excited as a rotting toadstool, but the goth crowd LOVED
them. Mainstage, Chevelle was good and tight, played their 2 hits
and hew others, good band, not excpetionally memorable, but ok.
Disturbed were quite good, got great audience reaction, around 45
minute set, really rocked the place. We had 8th row seats, right in
front of the PA, wowowzers!! LOUD!! Manson was next did lots of new
stuff, which I like, finished with some older stuff, had an excellent
show, lots of insane and obscence props and girls(pant, pant!) I didnt
see some of Korn, looking for Andy who decided to take a walk and
not let us know, but from what I seen Korn is quite interesting and
good, they deserve their spot where they are in the metal world
today.
The whole crowd seemed to stay for Ozz this year since he
wasnt there last year They went ******* CRAZY when he hit the stage
and stayed that way the whole set.
This seem to be a testament to Ozz's likeableness (word??).
He came out strong as **** and ready to
go. I think after 4 straight shows in a row and his bout of
laryngitis was too much though.
He had a tough time on about 1/3 of the songs, going flat and it royally ******
him off but he kept going at it and most of the crowd didnt mind at all, the just
boosted him up and sang with and for him and he really seem to suck
up all the love.
My cousins and Andy (all 17) loved the heck out of
Ozz's show, were just thrilled to see him,I didnt really know how
they would react. I think (IMO) the schedule of the Canadian tour is
about right for Ozz, one show every 3 days, he was great there.
The band was tighter here, Newsted was more familiar and he and Bordin
were tighter than Canada, but still not as tight as Trujillo and
Bordin, some if has to do with Newsted/s style, thrash style with a
pick. Wylde was more in time here also, rhythms were tighter (I am
still a Tony Iommi fan, just a personal thing).
We all had a good time, Deb had to work today, ugh, and MIke and Brad had 2 days
football practice at 6 am, double ugh. Ron also went along and was
thrilled as heck to get to see Ozz this year. It was great to see
Kristen and Ryan, they left today around 1 pm, still saying HUH?? and WHAT?? OZZFEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!
