Ozzy and Sharon flee blaze at mansion

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon were forced to flee their home on Friday night after a blaze broke out while they were asleep in their mansion.

The former Black Sabbath star and 'X Factor' judge Sharon were in bed when the fire started in their living room late at night.

After the fire alarm went off they ran into the garden, along with their pets, as firefighters rushed to their home in Buckinghamshire.

Two fire engines turned up and four firefighters brought the blaze under control. It is thought to have caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage.

Fire investigators are examining the cause, which may have been electric.

Ozzy Osbourne Says He 'Still Can't Watch' His Own TV Show

MTV may have aired the final episode of the Osbournes on Monday night (March 21), but the cable network will give the series a real send-off on April 17. Dubbing the event "Black Sabbath," the channel plans to air every episode from all four seasons of the Osbournes, starting at 5:30 a.m. Despite the show becoming a cultural phenomenon, Ozzy said he is not a fan.

"I still can't watch it," Ozzy said. "It's like a window in my past, and it's a really weird thing because we just go around and we forget how our behavior was yesterday -- I have a constant reminder. And there is hours and hours and reels and reels of film. There's enough stuff there to do a thousand more shows, you know."

In a statement, matriarch Sharon Osbourne, who also manages Ozzy's career, said, "After three years, the MTV cameras became part of the family, documenting what is possibly the most dramatic year we have had. Though it was rough sometimes, we are truly blessed to have had this amazing experience."

The Osbournes are expected to tape special interview and feature segments to air throughout the "Black Sabbath" celebration.

Ozzy Osbourne released a box set, Prince Of Darkness, on Tuesday (March 22).

Osbourne will sing again with his band, Black Sabbath, for the 2005 Ozzfest tour, which is slated to begin on July 15 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ozzy enchants staff

THE Osbournes have been called a lot of things, but "enchanting and delightful" could well be a first for the Prince of Darkness and his clan.

The celebrity family has impressed the managers of Queensland's Hamilton Island resort, leaving staff with the impression they are normal and well-mannered. British rocker Ozzy, his wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly left for California yesterday after sunning themselves on the island for five days.

"The media around the world may have called them all sorts of names but here they were normal, very well-mannered, friendly and could be described as the perfect guests," Hamilton Island spokeswoman Susan Boyd said. The Osbournes cruised the Whitsundays, and spent time snorkelling, swimming and shopping on the island.

Osbourne in awe of John

Rock icon Ozzy Osbourne is in awe of British singer Elton John because he lends so much of his time to his friends and under-privileged people the world over.

The former Black Sabbath frontman is indebted to the Candle In The Wind singer for all the support he gave wife Sharon during her battle with potentially lethal colon cancer - and they have become firm friends.

He says: "Elton and Sharon are great friends. I'm great friends with him too but he was brilliant with Sharon. They are on the phone all the time. He's amazing, he never stops - he's either performing or raising money for charity.

"He does so much, I don't know how he does it. I can't say enough good things about him."

OZZY OSBOURNE: 'Mississippi Queen' Available As A Paid Download

OZZY OSBOURNE's cover of MOUNTAIN's "Mississippi Queen" is currently available for download from iTunes and Napster.

Ozzy's version of "Mississippi Queen" is included on Osbourne's forthcoming "Prince of Darkness" four-CD box set, due on March 22. The first two discs in the set will encompass re-mastered versions of Ozzy's most popular solo smash hits. The third disc (which is entitled "Oddities and Duets") is comprised of some of Ozzy's most unusual collaborations. And the special fourth disc (called "Under Covers") is comprised of newly recorded covers as only Ozzy can deliver.

The "Prince of Darkness" box set will be packaged in a weathered, collectable gothic book with new images of Ozzy taken by famed British photographer/artist Sam Taylor Wood. It will be come with a 60-page booklet that contains a complete career overview and rare Ozzy photos.

As previously reported, Leslie West was interviewed in January, and he had the following to say about the track: "Two months ago, I recorded 'Mississippi Queen' with Ozzy for his new box set, He sang and I played guitar. It sounds like me playing with BLACK SABBATH. We sounded great. I think it might be on Ozzy's box set. The title at the time was 'Songs I Wish I Wrote'. It really came out great. In fact, we (MOUNTAIN) started (playing) it like that now - a little bit different than MOUNTAIN's version. I like his version better. Now, I play it like I played it with Ozzy. It's a little heavier and darker."

Abreast of Australian music
Hamming it up ... from left, Anna Nicole Smith, Sharon Osbourne, Carmen Electra, Kelly Osbourne and her dad Ozzy.

It seemed everyone was trying to keep abreast of things when American celebrities Carmen Electra, Anna-Nicole Smith and the infamous Osbourne family fronted media to promote MTV's first Australian music awards.

Former Playboy playmate Smith was happy to divulge that she sports a 32DD bra size these days and Ozzy Osbourne was quick to ham it up for the cameras by giving his daughter Kelly an affectionate boob squeeze.

And ex-Baywatch babe Carmen Electra promised to get a few pulses racing when she takes to the stage at the MTV Australia Video Music Awards (AVMA's) at Sydney's Luna Park tonight.

"I brought my whip. I brought my guard belt and my corset so I am ready to go," Electra, who is married to musician David Navarro, is in Australia to promote her Fit To Strip DVD series.

"I thought (the awards) would be a perfect opportunity to give a sexy performance and ... get up on stage and dance because that is my true passion."

Smith, who was last year escorted off the stage while presenting at the American Music Awards, will present at the AVMA's and offered to follow Electra's lead.

"Y'all want me to strip, just let me know," she said.

The inaugural AVMA's are aimed at acknowledging the best in Australian and international music in a variety of viewer-voted categories.

Nominated locals include Delta Goodrem, Jet, Spiderbait, Grinspoon, Pete Murray, Guy Sebastian, JWess, Kylie Minogue and Powderfinger.

Winners in each category will be determined by viewer interaction via SMS, email, fax and phone.

The Osbourne family - Ozzy, Sharon and kids Kelly and Jack - will host the awards with Sharon saying she was a keen fan of Australian music.

"(Sydney band Thirsty Merc) are my new favourite band," she said.

"I shall have to go out to watch them (perform)."

When quizzed, Smith didn't have such a grasp of the local music scene.

"To be honest, I am not Australian," Smith said to laughter from the media pack.

"But I did come here to learn."

Kelly Osbourne, who will perform at the awards, promised to be on her best behaviour.

On her last trip Down Under, the singer was fined for underage drinking and used obscenities to describe Natalie Imbruglia.

"We have seen each other since then and I have apologised for my rude comment," she said today.

"I don't still have to generally think she's the best person in the world but I will behave myself."

Other celebrity guests confirmed for tomorrow include Green Day, Simple Plan, Missy Higgins, Ja Rule, The Dissociatives, Chingy, Xzibit, Eskimo Joe, Keith Urban, Daniel Macpherson, Kelly Slater and Grinspoon.

The awards will be broadcast live on the MTV pay channel and re-broadcast on the Ten Network on Friday night.

They will be shown on MTV's 42 different networks around the world, giving the ceremony a potential audience of around one billion people.

Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson said it was a daunting thought that so many people would be watching the band's performance.

"It is just a good opportunity for us obviously to hopefully get our songs overseas and maybe get to play somewhere where other people who have never heard our music before will get to respond to it," he said.

OZZY OSBOURNE Congratulates PRINCE CHARLES On Wedding Plans

The Associated Press is reporting that Ozzy Osbourne sent his congratulations from Sydney, Australia on Britain's Prince Charles wedding plans.

Charles' recent visit to Australia has been overshadowed by scrutiny of his coming marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles, which has fazed some observers because their romance began before the late Princess Diana died.

Osbourne, rock and roll's self-proclaimed "Prince of Darkness," weighed in on the issue while in Australia's biggest city to host the first MTV Australia Video Music Awards, calling the prince a "mate" and saying he should be allowed to marry Parker Bowles in peace.

"It's his business you know. His first wife got killed so what's he expected to do, be single for the rest of his life? If he likes her and she likes him or whatever, good luck on them," the BLACK SABBATH lead singer told reporters in Sydney.
